Currently - September!

It is hard to believe summer has officially come to an end! Labor Day signals the official back-to-school season...and this month's Currently hosted by Farley! Take a look at what is currently going on in the world of Eclectic Educating!

Listening
Over the past couple of years, I have definitely become a morning person. I love being the first person up and sitting in the absolute quiet with a nice, warm cup of coffee, which is exactly what I am doing right now.

Loving
As soon as I woke up this morning, I headed right to the gym (it is raining) and ran my 5 miles for the day. Sometimes it's difficult to get myself out of bed to workout, but I am always so glad I did once I am done. Now I have the whole day ahead of me.

Thinking
I feel like I have been talking about it forever, but tomorrow is the official start of my new job. I am really excited, but I am also really nervous. It is hard to start from scratch again, learning all the school rules, routines, and ways of doing things. Not to mention learning so many new people and places!

Wanting
I am sure all of you want this too! I am hoping for a great school year, full of wonderful new experiences that help me continue to develop as a teacher.

Needing
New experiences can be really scary. I am getting very anxious about starting the new job tomorrow and have quite a bit of anxiety. I am trying to calm down. Worrying never helps anything, right? I am going to keep telling myself that until hopefully I believe it.

Goals
1. I am training for my first 10-mile race and have joined a running club. With both of things combined, I ran a little over 100 miles in August. I want to see if I can do the same thing in September! I really couldn't believe I did it. I never pictured myself running anything close to that. Being in a running club has really had such a positive effect on my beliefs about myself as a runner.
2. I have been working on learning to cook. The internet can only take you so far. I think I need to take an actual class to learn some of the basics of cooking. I have been putting it off because I am so stingy, but I need to think of it as an investment in my future! Also, I am sure I would enjoy the class!
3. Being in a new place means meeting lots of new people. I have met some great people at my running club and met some really nice ladies at orientation for the new job. I want to further develop these relationships and make some more friends. That will really help make this new place feel like home.

I can't wait to see what everyone else has been up to. As I try and make new friends in this new place, at least I know I always have all of my blogging friends, which I am extremely grateful for!

  4. I'm so impressed that you already have a 5-mile run done this morning! I love running as well, but I'm sooooo out of shape. It's one of my goals this month to get back into the groove with running! :) I got a fancy running stroller so I'm hoping that will motivate me.

Good luck with your new job! Hope your first day is terrific!
